Governors

Nicholas Kaye (Chairman)

I am a graduate in Economics, a Company founder and MD of a Financial Services Company and of a property sales and lettings company for the last 36 years. I am an experienced ex rugby player and coach, and also a qualified junior rugby coach; and generally an-all round sportsman.

I have been a school governor for over 15 years and chairperson for the last 12 years.

Trevor Aplin (Vice Chairman)

I am a chartered accountant with experience in advising and managing large and small organisation. Currently, I am a partner in a firm of chartered accountants and previously I have worked as Finance Director for a PLC.

I have a keen interest in special needs provision and have had two spells as a governor, the current one starting in 2010. I have been a Princes Trust advisor and I am the treasurer of a rugby club with a large youth section.

I am married with three children and three grandchildren.

Gemma Woodhall

I am a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and a director of a large financial services organisation where I specialise in providing pension advice to companies and trustee boards. I also support my organisation in driving the strategy around talent management, organisation excellence and internal financial management.

I have two young children of my own and have lived with my husband in the local area for the last 6 years. I have been a school governor since July 2016.

Jason Cornish

I am a Chartered building surveyor BSc (Hons) MCIOB FIOC with over 30 years experience in the building industry. I am also a member of the Chartered Institute of Building and a surveyor for the local authority, developing and maintaining schools and corporate buildings. I am currently a fellow member of the institute of carpenters whom advise and promote carpentry apprenticeships for students.

I have taught Karate for 25 years and am a 3rd Dan Black Belt. I coached and assisted National Junior England Karate team and the youth team for Redbridge Sports Karate Squad.

I have been a school governor for over six years.

Jenny Stanley

I have been a governor since April 2014. I work as a Children’s Epilepsy Nurse in North East Essex. My background is primarily in Learning Disability, but I have focused on children’s services for the past 15 years. In my current role I support children and young people and their families; I support schools, mainstream and SEN, residential and respite settings. I work closely with social care and a range of health professionals to ensure children’s health needs are met. I am able to use my experience and knowledge in my role as governor at Wells Park.

I am married and have four children.

Samantha Perry

I am new parent governor of Wells Park School (September 2016). I have one child at the school. My background is finance, but now work in HR with specialisms in Payroll and Pensions. I work for Farleigh Hospice and live in Dunmow. I was a  governor at my son's previous school. I am really looking forward to my four years term as a governor and really hope that together we make a difference. 

Sally Elliott

I am a fairly new Governor. I have worked in education for thirty two years ending my full-time career in school as acting Head Teacher at Buckhurst Hill Community Primary School. I am currently an Educational Consultant specialising in assessment and curriculum.

I am very excited by my role as Governor of Wells Park, such an amazing school, and I am looking forward to a long and happy collaboration.

Paul Johnson

I have worked at Wells Park School for over 25 years and have been a school Governor for 15 years. I am the Deputy Head of Care and look after the day to day running of the residential programme.  In my spare time I enjoy playing cricket and a variety of other sports.

Liam Benzaken

I have worked at Wells Park for a year now, and have just become a school governor. Working at Wells Park allows me to really make a differnence to children's lives, and I wanted to be a part of the governing body to extend this and to gain experience of how the school is governed.
